Retrospective analysis of gastrointestinal polyps: 1 year period

Year 2018, Volume: 1 Issue: 2, 29 - 33, 30.06.2018
https://doi.org/10.32322/jhsm.426787

Abstract

Aim: We planned this study to determine the compatibility of the polypectomy materials of the gastrointestinal system diagnosed in our department with the literature and if different characteristics.

Material and Method: 325 polypectomy materials diagnosed in 2017 were evaluated according to localization, diameter, age and histopathological types.

Findings: The age distribution of the patients ranged from 5 to 88 years, with an average age of 62.3 years and an average diameter of 5.8 mm. When we looked at the location of the polyps, 72.6% cases were located in the colon, 24% in the stomach and 0.3% in the small intestine and anastomotic region. It was found that most of the colon polyps were in sigmoid (33.0%) and most of the stomach polyps were in antrum (26.9%). The largest group of patients (49.8%) had hyperplastic polyps in terms of histopathological types in gastrointestinal system polyps, and tubuler adenomas were the second most common in 25.5% of cases.

Results: Our results in our analysis of gastrointestinal system polyps are similar to the literature findings.

Gastrointestinal poliplerin retrospektif analizi: 1 yıllık dönem

Year 2018, Volume: 1 Issue: 2, 29 - 33, 30.06.2018

Abstract

konulan gastrointestinal sisteme ait 325 adet polipektomi materyali
