COVID-19, Psychological Effects of The Pandemic Period and Emotional Eating Behavior

Öz

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which originated in Wuhan, China, has had a very negative impact on daily life around the world, with significant effects on mental and physical health. Emotions such as uncertainty, fear, unhappiness, despair, helplessness experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic process have also become an epidemic and lead to mental health problems such as stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms, insomnia and fear in individuals. Increased levels of stress, anxiety and depression along with the pandemic process also increase the risk of emotional eating. In this way, individuals may have health problems such as obesity with more sugar, abundant fat, unhealthy food consumption. Along with an ongoing unhealthy eating habit, the immune system may also be negatively affected, increasing the risk of contracting COVID-19.

COVID-19, Pandemi Sürecinin Psikolojik Etkileri ve Duygusal Yeme Davranışı

Öz

Çin'in Wuhan kentinde ortaya çıkan Koronavirüs hastalığı 2019 (COVID-19), zihinsel ve fiziksel sağlık üzerinde önemli etkilerle birlikte dünya genelinde de günlük yaşamı oldukça olumsuz etkilemiştir. COVID-19 pandemi sürecinde yaşanan belirsizlik, hasta olma endişesiyle yaşanılan korku, mutsuzluk, ümitsizlik, çaresizlik gibi duygular da salgın halini almıştır ve bireylerde stres, anksiyete, depresif belirtiler, uykusuzluk ve korku gibi zihinsel sağlık sorunlarına yol açmaktadır. Pandemi süreci ile birlikte artan stres, kaygı ve depresyon düzeyleri duygusal yeme riskini de artırmaktadır. Böylece bireylerin daha çok şekerli, bol yağlı, sağlıksız besin tüketimiyle birlikte obezite gibi sağlık sorunları ortaya çıkabilir. Devam eden sağlıksız beslenme alışkanlığı ile birlikte bağışıklık sistemi de olumsuz etkilenerek COVID-19'a yakalanma riski artabilmektedir.
