Intraoral lipoma: 2 case report

Abstract

Lipomas are a common type of soft tissue tumour, occurring with greater frequency in other locations than in the oral region. They are non-functioning benign tumours formed from mature adipose tissue. The clinical course may manifest as a painless mass that gradually enlarges over years. There are reports of giant lipomas extending to the sublingual, submandibular and parapharyngeal regions. Surgical excision and post-operative follow-up are of critical importance in cases with a preliminary diagnosis of lipoma. In this study, we present two rare cases of lipomas in the lower lip region which enlarge over time and cause loss of function.
