Atypical presentation of cutaneous tuberculosis on the face

Abstract

Cutaneous tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease of the skin which shows different clinical forms according to the host immunity and the way the organism gets through the skin. In addition to the classical types, unusual clinical presentations are reported especially in immunocompromised patients. Development of these bizarre clinical presentations usually cause a delay in the diagnosis and inappropriate treatments may lead to significant morbidity. Here, we report an atypical presentation of cutaneous tuberculosis mimicking cellulitis on the face in an immunocompetent patient.
