Turkish version of the cognitive screening test Cognistat, standardization and implementation in patients with Alzheimer dementia

Abstract

Aim: To standardize Cognistat Cognitive Screening Test (CCST) in healthy controls and patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and compare the results with the results of the Mini Mental Status Examination (MMSE). Materials and Methods: Ninety-three healthy controls and 86 patients with AD were included in the study. All patients were examined with the Cognistat Cognitive Screening Test and Mini Mental Status Examination in addition to the Global Deterioration Scale. Results: The CCST proved to be superior to MMSE in order to evaluate executive functions, construction and judgment in both healthy controls and patients with AD. Conclusion: The CCST can be used to assess frontal functions more reliably than the MMSE.
