RETROPERITONEOSCOPIC RENAL CYSTECTOMY

Abstract

Retroperitoneoscopy has gained much interest in date. İt has been stili believed to be a long lasting procedure, vvhereas there is no debate about the patients' comfort in comparison to öpen surgery. Hovvever, the operation time decreases with the surgeon's increasing experience. Four patients have undement retroperitoneoscopic renal cyst excision due to simple renal cysts. Retroperitoneoscopy has been performed in lateral decubites position and via three (one 12 mm and two 5 mm) ports. Of the patients, three had multiple cysts. The mean operative time was 45 (35-60) minutes. A minimal peritoneal rupture was the only complication. Single dose analgesic was sufficient in ali patients for postoperative pain. All four have been discharged on the first postoperative dav. Percutaneous scierotherapy is the first İme treatment in management of sirnple renal cysts. Retroperitoneoscopic cyst excision is an ideal alternative forpatients who do not benefit from scierotherapy. Furthermore, this procedure can be the first choice of treatment modality forpatients with multiple, large and symptomatic renal cysts.
