THE PREVALANCE OF HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA AND RISK FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA IN PATIENTS WH0 ADMITTED TO İZMİR EGEKENT HEALTH CENTER
Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the risk factors associated with hypercholesterolemia. The study group was consisted of 318 patients över the age of 30 who admitted to Egekent Health Center in June 1999. Data were collected by means of a questionaire and serum total cholesterol levels were also analyzed. The mean and standart deviation of total cholesterol levels were 201.5±45.0 mg/dL, and the median was 194.5 mg /dL. When the cut off points were taken as ≥200 mg/dL and ≥230 mg/dL, the ratios of hypercholesterolemic patients were 54.1 % and 23.9 %, respectively. The risk factors for hypercholesterolemia were determined as age, menapouse, hypertension and body mass index.

Abstract
Çalışma, hiperkolesterolemi ile ilişkili risk faktörlerinin saptanması amacı ile planlanmıştır. Araştırma grubunu, Egekent Sağlık Ocağı'na Haziran 1999'da başvuran 30 yaş üzerindeki 318 kişi oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada anketle veri toplanmış, ayrıca kişilerin total kolesterol düzeyleri ölçülmüştür. Kişilerin total kolesterol ortalama ve standart sapması 201.5± 45.0 mg /dL, ortancası 194.5 mg /dL'dir. Hiperkolesterolemi için sınır değer ≥200 mg/dL ve ≥230 mg/dL alındığında sırasıyla kişilerin % 54.11 ve %23.9'u hiperkolesterolemi grubundadır. Yaş, menapoz, hipertansiyon ve vücut kitle indeksi hiperkolesterolemi için risk faktörleri olarak saptanmıştır.
