DEATHS DUE TO POISONING AMONG FORENSİC AUTOPSİES İN İZMİR BETWEEN 1990-1994

Abstract

Between 1990-1994, legal investigations, autopsy, toxicology, histopathology and alcohol reports of 2740 cases whose autopsies were performed at Council of Forensic Medicine İzmir Group Chairmanship were evaluated. Two hundred fifthy three cases who died due to poisoning were evaluated according to age, sex, origin and toxicologic substance. İt was detected as they were died due to toxic substances, were examined. Most of the cases were in 20-29 age group (24.1%) and male (62.9%). İt was detected that primary origin was silicide (60.9%). The second cause was accidental intoxications (29.6%). The most frequent toxic substance vvhich detected in bloods of cases were insecticides (48.2%), second was carbon monoxide (26.5%).
