Tiroid hormon seviyesinin korneanın topografik dansitometrik ve aberrometrik değerleri üzerindeki etkileri

Tiroid hormon seviyesinin korneanın topografik dansitometrik ve aberrometrik değerleri üzerindeki etkileri

Öz

Amaç: Hipotiroidi ve hipertiroidi olgularında korneaların topografik ölçümleri, aberometri ve dansitometrik değerlerini sağlıklı bireylerle karşılaştırmalı olarak incelemek. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu kesitsel karşılaştırmalı çalışmaya 20 hipotiroidi hastası (grup I), 20 hipertiroidi hastası (grup II) ve yaşları eşleştirilmiş 20 kontrol (grup III) dahil edildi. Pentacam yüksek çözünürlüklü görüntüleme sistemi, kornea topografik ölçümlerini, aberrometriyi ve dansitometriyi belirlemek için kullanıldı. Bulgular: Ortalama yaş grub I, II ve III sırasıyla 42,11±12,84(21-65), 44,52±10,11(20-66), 44,04±8,06 (20-65) yıldı (p =0,091), gruplar arasında anlamlı fark yoktu, 0-2 mm ve 2-6 mm dansitometri değerleri açısından gruplar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunamadı (p>0,05). 6-10 mm kornea bölgesinde ön, orta stroma, arka ve total olmak üzere tüm katlarda hipertiroidili grupta kontrol grubuna göre anlamlı düzeyde yüksekti (sırasıyla p=0,002, p=0,001, p=0,002 ve p=0,001). 10-12 mm periferik kornea bölgesinde tüm katlardaki kornea dansitometri değerleri hipertiroidi grubunda hem kontrol grubuna hem de hipotiroidi grubuna göre anlamlı olarak yüksekti (tüm değerler için p<0,05). Aberrometrik ölçümlerde, hipertiroidili grupta yüksek dereceli sapmalar kontrol grubuna göre daha fazlaydı (p=0,012). Sonuç: Hipertiroidi, periferik korneal dansitometri artışı ve yüksek sıralı aberasyonlarla ilişkili bulundu.

The effect of thyroid hormone level on topographic densitometric and aberrometric values of the cornea

Öz

Aim: To investigate the topographic measurements, aberrometrics and densitometrics values of corneas in hypothyroid , hyperthyroid patients compared to healthy individuals. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional comparative study included 20 hypothyroid patients (group I), 20 hyperthyroid patients (group II), and 20 age-matched controls (group III). The Pentacam high resolution imaging system is used to determine corneal topographic measurements, aberrometry and densitometry. Results: Mean age group I, II and III 42.11±12.84(21-65), 44.52±10.11(20-66), 44.04±8.06 (20-65) years was respectively (p =0.091). There was no significant difference between the groups no statistically significant differences were found between the groups in terms of the 0-2 mm and 2-6 mm densitometry values. At 6-10 mm corneal zone at all layers, including anterior, mid-stroma, posterior and total, were significantly higher in the hyperthyroidism group compared to the control group (p=0.002, p=0.001, p=0.002 and p=0.001, respectively). At the 10-12 mm peripheral corneal zone, corneal densitometry values in all layers were significantly higher in the hyperthyroidism group compared to both the control group and hypothyroidism group (p<0.05 for all values). For the aberrometric measures, higher order aberrations were greater for the hyperthyroidism group than the control group (p=0.012). Conclusion: Hyperthyroidism has been associated with increased peripheral corneal densitometry and higher-order aberrations.
