SERUM THYROID HORMONES, THYREOSTIMULAN HORMONE AND THYROGLOBULIN LEVELS IN CORD BLOOD AND MATERNAL CIRCULATION AT THE TIME OF DELIVERY

Abstract

For evaluating of the thyroid gland functions in both maternal serum of the 52 healthy mothers who are 19 to 40 aged years old, and in the cord blood of thoir nevvborns, the levels of free T3, free T4, thyreostimulan hormone (TSH) and thyrogiobulin were measured by using radioimmunoassay (RİA) and immunoradioassay (IRMA) technics. Various comparisons were performed regarding to smoking habits and gestational age of the mothers, birth weights and Apgar indexes of the nevvborns. İndependent Studeni's test for statistical analisis and Pearson correlation calculations for comparisons were employed.
