ATYPICALLY LOCATED PERICARDIAL CYST: A CASE REPORT

Abstract

Pericardial cysts, which may be either congenital or acquired, have an incidence of 7 % among mediastinal masses. They are mostly located in the right anterior cardiophrenic angle. On computerized tomography (CT), when filled with viscous or high density material, the cyst may mimic a solid mass. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is valuable not only in the localization and diagnosis but also in the characterization of the cystic content. In this case report, the chest X-ray, CT and MRI findings of an atypically located pericardial cyst are discussed.
