PHAGOCYTIC ACTIVITY İN HEMORRHAGIC SHOCK

Abstract

It is well knovvn that immunologic alterations occur in hemorrhagic shock (HS). We have designed this study to investigate phagocytic activity in HS. Thirty-six albino rats were divided into 3 groups. Group 1(n=12): HS was induced by withdrawing blood until a mean arterial blood pressure of 30 mm Hg was obtained and maintaned at this level for 30 minutes. Group 2(n=12): The animals were only cannulated but not shocked. Group 3(n=12): Control group Rats were sacrificed at 24h postshock. Blood samples were taken for immunologic examinations and antioxidant enzyme levels were measured in ileal mucosa. Phagocytic activity was found to be higher in Group 1 when compared to Group 2 and 3 (p
