Standard treatment of gastric cancer can alter according to the stage of the tumor. Extended gastrectomy vvith group 2 lymph node dissection (D2) is one of the treatment procedure of gastric cancer. The procedure is also valid for early gastric cancer. The surgical therapy is to be revievved because early gastric cancer is more likely to be diagnosed today. Pylorus-preserving gastrectomy (PPG), as a surgical option has first been used for gastric ulcer surgery. Ulcer recurrence and dumping had been reported to be rare in the long term follovv up of the patients vvith PPG. Because of this physiological benefits, we believe that PPG can be an appopriate surgical procedure for early gastric cancer as well.
