DETERMINATION OF THE FREOUENCY OF ACCIDENTS AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ACCIDENTS AND SOME RISK FACTORS IN THE CATCHMENT AREA OF ALTINDAĞ HEALTH CENTER, ANKARA

Abstract

Accidents couid be accepted as an important health problem because of increasing tha mortaiity and morbidity; decreasing the life guality, causing the economic and work power loss. This study has heen carried out in the caichment of Altındağ Primary Health Center, Ankara to deterrrrine the freguency and the types of accidents; relaiionship betvveen accidents and some risk factors within the previous both 15 days and one year. "30 Cluster Sampling" method was used in this crossectiona! study. 4.1 % of the study population had any accident vvithin the previous one year whereas 8.9 % of them had any for the last 15 days. İn the previous one year, 40.0 % of the accidents were domestic; 22.2 % were traffic and 13.4 % were occupational accidents; hovvever 86.6 % of the accidents were domestic accidents within the previous 15 days. Relations between accidents and some risk factors were investigated and some recommendations were developed in the study.
