OVARIAN FUNCTIONS İN HYSTERECTOMIZED BUT ADNEXES PRESERVED PATIENTS

Abstract

The age at ovarian failure was determined in 40 women who had previously undergone abdominal or vaginal total hysterectomy with bilateral ovarian conservation and in 100 women who had undergone a spontaneous menopause. The mean age of ovarian failure in the hysterectomized group was 46.90 ± 3.94 years, this was not significantly lower than the mean age of 47.26 ±3.72 years in the nonhysterectomized control group (p=0.653). In this study, post-operatıve ovarian function was evaluated by measuring FSH, LH and E2 levels and it was found that bilateral ovarian conservated hysterectomy (either dysfunctional uterine bleeding, uterin fibroid, etc.) does not influence the time of ovarian failure.
