USING OF MULTIDIMENSIONAL HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE WITH BAUSELL' S MEASUREMENT FOR EVALUATING THE HEALTH PROMOTING BEHAVIOUR

Abstract

This study aim was to determine the rural peopie's health behaviors and associated psychological parameters with using Multidimentional Health Ouestionnaire, which was a self-reported instrument. Data were collected with using a systematically stratification sample technique. The 796 of collected 937 questionnaires were evaluated. They were aged between 18 and 85, 402 of them were female. The results revealed that; women tended more positively health-promoting behaviors than males. Behind this finding males tended to score higher than females on the " illness self-blame" but having less scores than females on "health consciousness" and "motivation for healthiness". Older ages expressed higher "health anxiety" and "health depression" than young people. There was found that positive associations between health promoting behavior and educational level. But there were negative correlation between "health depression," "chance/luck health control" and educational levels. lnadequate health behaviors and psychological dispositions are going with occupational dispositions. This study shows that health needs, beliefs, and health promoting behaviors varied by the demographic factors of population. This must be taken into consideration for health çare delivering.
