CROSS FINGER FLAP APPLICATION ON FINGER TIP DEFECTS

Abstract

In this study, we reviewed 13 cases treated with cross finger flap, retrospectively. Our evaluation criteria were joint stiffness, discoloration, pain and cold intolerance at the donor site; two point discrimination and cosmetic satisfaction at the recipient site. Work accident, traffic accident, gun shot injury and osteomyelitis were faced in the ethiology. The average age was 21.6 years and average follow-up was16 months. The average two point discrimination test was 6.8 mm. Cosmetic satisfaction of the patients was 61%. We suggest reconstruction of the fingers with the cross finger flap, if there is no possibility of microsurgical reconstruction, because of its simplicity against the disadvantage of cosmetic dissatisfaction.
