CANDIDA SEPTISEMIA IN A NEWBORN ORIGINATING FROM MATERNAL SOURCE : A CASE REPORT

Abstract

In the present study we discussed a patient with maternal candida septicemia in a twin pregancy ending with preterm delivery. Vaginal candidiasis seems to increase the risk of preterm labor and preterm prematüre rupture of membranes. In pregnancies with intrauterine device in place, fetal candidiasis seems to be more frequent and severe in prognosis. The early diagnosis and treatment of maternal candidiasis is of utmost importance in the follovj-up of pregnant women.
