GRANULOSA CELL TUMOR OF THE OVARY IN A POSTMENOPAUSAL PATIENT WITH ENDOMETRIAL HYPERPLASIA : REPORT OF A CASE AND REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE

Abstract

Granulosa cell tumor of the ovary is one of the sex cord stromal tumors of the ovary and often has the ability to secrete sex steroids such as estrogen. In our artıcle we present a patient who showed proliferative endometrium preoperatively and granulosa cell tumor of ovary after the surgical exploration. We report a 70-year-old patient with postmenopausal vaginal bleeding. We performed endometrial sampling from the patient who had thick and irregular endometrium on transvaginal sonography. The biopsy result was simple endometrial hyperplasia without atypia. We performed a total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. Histopathological examination of the ovaries revealed a granulosa cell tumor of right ovary.
