SEROPREVALENCE OF MEASLES ANTIBODIES IN ADULTS

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate seroprevalence of measles antibodies in a hospital-based sample in Izmir, Turkey. Data were collected on a sample of 803 healthy people aged 18- 65 years. A face-to-face questionnaire was used to collect demographic and vaccine history. A total of 803 sera were tested for anti-measles antibodies by ELISA technique. The percentage of susceptibility to measles was found 0.24 %. Vaccination rate was found 63.7 %. Although this study was hospital based, these results could give an idea about the seroprevalence of measles antibodies within the adult population.
