Hepatic portosystemic shunt in patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia with colour Doppler imaging

Abstract

Herediter hemeorajic telenjectasy (HHT) is a rarely seen sistemic displasy. In HHT arteriovenous shants are frequently seen. On the contrary , the other intrahepatic shants such as arterioportal , portovenous and venovenous, are seldom seen. Beside HHT portovenous shants could be idiopatic. These shants are very important because of the hepatic encephalopathy risque that they carry. In this study we present a patient who has HHT with arteriovenous shants In addition, there were collateral veins those extend from right portal vein to caudat lobe, which seem like portosystemic shants between portal vein and vena cava inferior. We review the collateral veins which resembles portosystemic shants , using color Doppler US imagings.
