A case with mesenteric venous trombosis due to factor 5 Leiden mutation

Abstract

Acute abdominal pain is most encountered problem in surgical emergency services and practises. Rare cause of this problem is mesenteric vascular disease related vascular structures' trombosis or embolism. Mesenteric venous trombosis is a kind of mesenteric vascular disease which is characterized by total or partial circulatuar collapse of the mesenteric structure. Real incidence of this disease unknown. Mesenteric venous trombosis is well known with the high mortality rates although dynamique treatment. Despite all of the therapeutic efforts, mortality rates of this sneakingly disase still remains high. Surgical treatment is the only curative method in complicated cases and mortality is inevitable if the peritonitis can not be eliminated. We present a rare adult case in this article to whom occurred mesenteric total venous occlusion by well known pathology but unusual reason. Furthermore, rare cause of mesenteric trombosis type which is occured due to Factor 5 Leiden mutation and it's treatment details is discussed and reviewed.
