Brucella septic arthritis of the wrist

Abstract

Brucella is a zoonotic disease which is endemic in many parts of the world and presents with different clinic findings. The Brucella disease may lead to serious complications by influencing the skeletal muscle system negatively, as well as its systemic involvement. In this study, by presenting a septic arthritis which appeared on the carpus of a 54-year old man, we investigated the etiology of septic arthritis in regions where brucellosis was endemic and emphasized that brucellosis may appear as a complication and insufficient therapy would result in serious morbidity.
