Sjogren syndrome presenting with ganglionopathy

Abstract

Scientific background: Sjogren Syndrome is a chronic autoimmune disorder of the exocrine glands with associated lymphocytic infiltrates of the affected glands. Neurological involvement occurs in approximately 10-40 % of patients with Sjogren syndrome. Materials and methods: Routine neurologic examination, biochemical screen, serological tests, vasculitic markers, thyroid function tests, B12 and vitamine E levels, CSF screen and Schirmer tests was conducted in the patient. Conclusions: The ganglionopathie is a rare but well known problems of the Sjogren Syndrome. The case which is presented has shown that before the clinics of classic sjogren disease comes out, some neurological complications such as ganglionopathy might appear.
