Technology usage in older ages

Abstract

Technology develops in a very fast pace and creates a lot of promising solution in various domains. Developing and developed countries including Turkey faces increasingly important aging population issue which requires more technological contribution in the area. There are scientific researches and technological advancements directly targeting old adults and also there are technological products indirectly contributes positively to the elderly life. The research is concentrated on areas of assistive technologies for independent elderly life, health and care technologies and safety theme. Gerontechnology is a multidisciplinary field combining gerontology and technology which aims to create assistive systems, software and tools for elderly people. In this review the researches and technologies like telemedicine, telecare in the scope of “gerontechnology” are presented.
