Ege Journal of Medicine (Ege Tıp Dergisi) is the official scientific publication organ of Ege University Faculty of Medicine, located in the city of Izmir, Türkiye. Having started its publication life in 1962, Ege Journal of Medicine has aimed, since its establishment, to produce scientific knowledge in different fields of medicine, to develop current medical knowledge and practices, and to share the obtained scientific evidence among health professionals and researchers.
The primary objective of the journal is to bring original, high-quality, and scientifically contributory research conducted in different disciplines of medicine and health sciences into the scientific world. The journal aims to improve scientific communication and collaboration by including studies in the fields of basic, clinical, and surgical medical sciences, public health, healthcare services, health policies and management, and medical education, as well as multidisciplinary research related to these areas.
Ege Journal of Medicine accepts original research articles, short reports, invited review articles, consensus reports, case reports, letters to the editor, and scientific articles related to health policies. In evaluating publication types, the scientific quality, originality, methodological adequacy of the study, the validity of the results, its potential contribution to the field, and its compatibility with the purpose and scope of the journal are taken as a basis.
The journal bases the planning, execution, reporting, and publication of scientific studies on the internationally accepted principles of scientific research and publication ethics. Following the editorial pre-review, manuscripts submitted to the journal are scientifically evaluated by expert reviewers in the relevant scientific fields. In the peer-review process, the originality, methodological adequacy, scientific reliability, ethical compliance of the research, and its contribution to the relevant field are taken into consideration. Compliance with national legislation and international ethical standards is observed in research conducted on humans and animals.
Ege Journal of Medicine adopts an open access publishing model. Following the assignment of the DOI number, free and direct online access is provided to each issue published electronically and to the full texts of the articles included in these issues. This publication policy supports free access to scientific knowledge. The reuse of content is subject to the licensing conditions adopted by the journal.
The journal aims to contribute to the production and sharing of reliable scientific evidence in medicine and health sciences, and to its integration into national and international scientific literature, based on the principles of scientific quality, research integrity, ethical publishing, transparency in peer-review processes, and open access.
