Ege Journal of Medicine (Ege Tıp Dergisi) is the official scientific journal of Ege University Faculty of Medicine. Established in 1962, it is a peer-reviewed, open-access periodical dedicated to disseminating scientific knowledge across medical disciplines. Published by Ege University, the journal publishes articles in Turkish and English.
 

History
The journal was published under the title Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Mecmuası from 1962 to 1973 and Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Dergisi from 1974 to 1989. It adopted its current Turkish title, Ege Tıp Dergisi, in 1990. Its publication history, spanning more than six decades, reflects a sustained institutional commitment to the dissemination of medical research and scholarly knowledge.
 

Aims and Scope
The Ege Journal of Medicine aims to advance scientific knowledge by publishing contemporary, original, and high-quality studies across all fields of medicine. It seeks to promote the exchange of knowledge among the basic, clinical, and surgical medical sciences and to disseminate research findings, clinical observations, and experiences relevant to medical practice. The journal publishes original research articles, case reports, technical notes, clinical images, letters to the editor, and invited reviews. Review articles are considered only upon invitation from the editorial board. Its intended readership includes physicians, researchers, academic faculty, medical residents, postgraduate students, and healthcare professionals with an interest in medical research.
 

Publication Frequency and Languages
The journal publishes four issues annually, in March, June, September, and December, with these four issues constituting one volume. Electronic supplements may also be published upon request. The publication languages are Turkish and English. Abstracts in both Turkish and English are provided for article types that require an abstract. Editorial Assessment and Peer Review
Submitted manuscripts undergo an initial assessment by the editor or the relevant section editor. Manuscripts deemed suitable proceed to double-blind peer review, during which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another. Scientific assessment considers the originality of the work, the appropriateness of the methods, adherence to ethical principles, consistency between the findings and conclusions, and contribution to the relevant literature. Publication Ethics                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              The journal is committed to publishing research that meets scientific and ethical standards. For studies requiring ethics committee approval, the relevant approval must be documented. Patient confidentiality must be protected, and written informed consent for publication must be obtained where required. Approval from the relevant ethics committee is mandatory for all retrospective and prospective studies. The name of the ethics committee, the approval date, and the approval reference number must be clearly stated in the “Materials and Methods” section of the manuscript. Submitted work is expected to be previously unpublished and not under simultaneous consideration by another journal. Open Access, Fees, and Licensing
The Ege Journal of Medicine is published electronically under an open-access model. The full texts of published articles are freely accessible, and authors are not charged submission or publication fees. Published articles are assigned digital object identifiers (DOIs).
